What is AngeLingo?

AngeLingo stands uniquely as an entirely student-operated literary journal, born from USC’s College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, with its readership in the thousands. AngeLingo strives to exhibit diversity and academic excellence through its publications, showcasing the finest literary and academic works penned by USC students. As the editors of AngeLingo, we seek to present this journal and its contents so that the unique blend of USC and Los Angeles culture shines through every word, encouraging the reader to view social and political issues through our eyes. AngeLingo represents what the USC student sees.

The editors of AngeLingo are undergraduate students of USC, all representing different colleges, majors, and interests. Nevertheless, we are joined together by our mutual respect for pertinent issues and our love for the written word; thus, we proudly present to you what is current, what is USC, but most importantly, what is AngeLingo.

How are articles selected for publication?

Most of the articles published by AngeLingo originate from Writing 340, a course that satisfies the upper-division writing requirement for USC. We thank College faculty for sending great writing our way. AngeLingo also warmly welcomes submissions of other varieties for consideration, as we aspire to publish submissions from nearly every college discipline and point of interest.

A team of student editors cull through the submissions, awarding every article an evaluation by at least two editors, each of whom makes a recommendation either for or against publication. If both reviewing editors favor the article, they bring it before the entire editing team in a panel-like discussion for approval. After selections are made, editors are assigned to work with each writer on editing the article for publication.
