Undergraduate Writers' Competition

Have you written a dynamite essay or creative piece? Submit it for consideration. First prize: $1000. Second Prize: $500. Eight winners in four categories!

The competition culminates in the Undergraduate Writers' Conference on Tuesday, March 25. Your essay is your ticket of admission to the awards ceremony.

You'll get to:

  • Hear how top-notch writing made our keynote speakers zoom ahead in industry
  • Eat like a king at the posh University Club
  • Be automatically considered for publication in AngeLingo (http:// angelingo.usc.edu) the USC College online journal produced entirely by undergraduates
  • Summarize your essay/creative work and hear others respond to your ideas

How To:

  • 4 categories. On title page, identify the category in which your essay is competing:
    • Professional Writing (memos, white papers, professional ethics, blogs)
    • Analytical essay (single primary source, close reading)
    • Research essay (multiple sources, bibliography)
    • Creative work (short story, screenplay, poems)
  • Entry length: Up to 40 pages per essay/creative work.
  • One submission per category, but you can compete in multiple categories.
